Name: Tony Ramirez
Description: About 5 years ago, I started working in the seismology lab at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) preparing instruments for deployment on the ocean floor. I left MBARI last November and have been working as an independent research contractor since then. On this cruise I have been contracted by the University of Washington to assist with the recovery and redeployment of seismometer packages for the Keck program.
Each seismometer package needs to have fresh battery packs installed and the hard discs with the recorded data replaced with empty drives for the next 12 months of data recording. Once the data logger has been serviced, the seismometer package is ready for re-deployment on ocean floor.
