This platform called an elevator is a simple but elegant way to send instruments and sampling devices to the bottom of the ocean during ROV operations on the seafloor. The elevator can be recalled to the surface from the ship and bring back to the ship biological, chemical or geological samples. The yellow spheres contain the floats that enable the elevator to come back to the surface.
