The datalogger package and osmo sampler (fluid sampler) are deployed in the a small notch at the left side of the chimney. Jason is carrying the incubator barrel assembly up to the experiemntal hole, nearly 18 feet up the side of the structure. This instrument will record >600,000 temperatures over the next year, take continuous hydrogen measurements, and time-series sampling of fluids. In one year, it will be recovered, and the microbes examined that have colonized material inside of the 4-chambered instrument.
