WHAT COLOR IS THE SKY?
Dessaure Davis, 11 year old, Harlem, New York

What color is the sky?
This is my question.
I think it has many different colors.
One color is for love,
another is for peace and sadness.
I think the sky is filled with thoughts, feelings and imagination.
When you let out your feelings in a song or in dancing,
it goes to the sky and makes another color.
Many think the color of the sky is blue.
I think it is a rainbow.
So the question is...
What color is the sky?

This poem was sent to the REVEL team by Dessaure Davis, 11 years old, in Harlem, new York.
At sea, when we are working together, and confronting challenges like we have had during this expedition, it takes a special array of people, expertise, talents and trust in each other to successfully accomplish the scientific and educational missions envisioned at the start of the program. The sky that Dessaure describes for us is a beautiful metaphor for the “rainbow of colors” and the "special dance" that scientists, teachers, crew, engineers, and TV crew create and foster to sail, work and succeed together… against all odds. -VR
